A Night to Remember for Lee Je-hoon
Happy New Year, everyone! The end of the year in Korea is always super exciting because of the big entertainment awards shows, and last night’s 2025 SBS Drama Awards did not disappoint! The biggest news of the night was that the incredibly talented actor Lee Je-hoon took home the Daesang, which is the Grand Prize and the highest honor an actor can receive. He won for his amazing performance as Kim Do-gi in the super popular drama, “Taxi Driver 3.”
What makes this win even more special is that it’s his second Daesang for the same role! He also won back in 2023 for “Taxi Driver 2.” This actually makes him the first actor in the history of the SBS Drama Awards to win the Grand Prize twice for the same series. Talk about a legendary achievement! It just shows how much people love him and his character.
The Power of “Taxi Driver”
If you haven’t watched “Taxi Driver,” you are seriously missing out! The show, which started back in 2021, is about a secret organization called the Rainbow Taxi Company that helps victims get revenge on criminals who the law can’t touch. Lee Je-hoon’s character, Kim Do-gi, is the cool and mysterious driver who carries out these missions. The story is so intense and satisfying, and it’s no wonder it has become one of SBS’s most successful shows, now with three seasons! The series has been a fan favorite for years, and last night it also won the ‘Drama of the Year’ award.
An Emotional Thank You
During his acceptance speech, Lee Je-hoon got pretty choked up, which was so sweet to see. He said that playing his role could be lonely and difficult at times, but the support from his castmates, the crew, and especially the fans and viewers kept him going. He made sure to thank everyone, saying, “The fact that ‘Taxi Driver’ has reached its third season is only possible because of the unwavering love and support from everyone.” It’s so clear how much this project means to him and how grateful he is for all the love.
