What’s the Big Deal About an Old Photo?
Hey everyone! So, there’s been some drama online involving one of Korea’s biggest TV personalities, Jun Hyun-moo. An old picture of him getting an IV drip in his car has resurfaced, and people are freaking out a little. The photo is from a 2016 episode of the super popular reality show, ‘I Live Alone’ (나 혼자 산다). Back then, no one batted an eye. He was known for having a crazy, non-stop schedule, so viewers just saw it as a sign of how hardworking he was.

But fast forward to today, and the context is totally different. There’s a huge ongoing scandal in the Korean entertainment world about a so-called “injection aunt” (주사 이모), an unlicensed person giving celebrities IV drips and other treatments illegally. Some of Hyun-moo’s co-stars from the same show, like Park Na-rae and SHINee’s Key, have already had to apologize and step back from their activities because of this. So, when Hyun-moo’s old photo popped up again, people immediately started connecting the dots and wondering if he was part of the same scandal.
His Agency Speaks Out
Seeing the rumors fly, Jun Hyun-moo’s agency, SM C&C, released an official statement right away to set the record straight. They explained that back in 2016, Hyun-moo was suffering from a really bad throat condition due to his packed schedule. He went to a hospital, saw a doctor, and got a proper prescription for an IV treatment.

However, he had a filming schedule he absolutely couldn’t miss and didn’t have enough time to finish the drip at the hospital. So, under the doctor’s judgment, he had to leave and finish the IV treatment in the car on the way to his next appointment. The agency was crystal clear: “All medical procedures, aside from the finalization of that treatment, were carried out inside the hospital.” They strongly denied that he ever called a private practitioner or received any illegal services.
Just a Misunderstanding?
The agency emphasized that this whole thing is a misunderstanding caused by an old clip being shared without its original context. They’ve asked people to stop spreading baseless rumors and twisting the story. At the time, he was juggling 17 regular shows, so it’s not surprising he was completely exhausted and needed medical attention.

It’s a tricky situation because getting medical procedures outside of a licensed clinic is technically against the rules in Korea. However, his agency has been firm that the entire process was initiated and prescribed by a doctor in a hospital. They even clarified that he removed the needle himself after the drip was finished in the car since no medical staff was with him. For now, it seems like a case of bad timing and unfortunate association, but it definitely shows how sensitive everyone is to this issue right now.
