New Allegations Surface in Park Na-rae Scandal
Okay, so the drama around one of Korea’s most famous comedians, Park Na-rae, just got even more intense. New claims have surfaced from her former manager, and they are wild. The manager alleges that Park Na-rae was fully aware she was receiving illegal medical treatments from a woman nicknamed the “jusa imo,” which literally translates to “injection auntie.” This whole situation is part of a larger scandal that includes accusations of workplace harassment against her staff.

According to a news report from MBN’s ‘News Fighter,’ the ex-manager described a specific incident during an overseas filming for the mega-popular show ‘I Live Alone’ in Taiwan. The story goes that Park Na-rae was late for shooting, and when the production crew went to her hotel room, they found her with the “injection auntie” and some medical supplies.
The ‘I Live Alone’ Confrontation
Here’s where it gets cinematic. When the ‘I Live Alone’ producers asked who this woman was, she apparently claimed to be a doctor who met Park Na-rae by chance. Then, she allegedly got into a heated argument with the crew, name-dropping the president of the TV network (MBC) and other celebrities, essentially saying, “How dare you speak to me like that?” The ex-manager claims this whole scene suggests Park Na-rae knew the situation was not above board. A real doctor wouldn’t need to invent a story about a “chance meeting.”

Following this confrontation, the ex-manager alleges Park Na-rae tried to enforce a code of silence. She reportedly told her managers not to tell the company about the incident, warning them that if the news got out, “It’s not just me who gets hurt, you get hurt too.” These alleged messages have reportedly been submitted to the police.
What is a ‘Jusa Imo’?
For those of you not familiar, a “jusa imo” or “injection auntie” is a slang term for people who provide IV drips and other injections outside of a licensed medical facility, like at your home or office. It’s a huge no-no under Korean medical law, which is very strict. Only licensed professionals can perform these acts in proper clinics or hospitals. The Ministry of Health and Welfare has even stated that if a patient knows the procedure is illegal, they could be considered an accomplice.

Park Na-rae’s Career on Hold
This entire scandal has had a massive impact. Park Na-rae, who was a fixture on Korean TV, has stepped down from all her popular shows, including ‘I Live Alone’ and ‘Amazing Saturday.’ The controversy also involves SHINee’s Key, who admitted to receiving treatments from the same person, believing she was a licensed doctor, and has also suspended his activities. Park Na-rae’s initial response was that she received nutritional IVs from a licensed doctor, but she hasn’t made further statements as the allegations pile up. The situation is now a legal matter, with claims and counter-claims between Park and her former managers.
