Famous Korean YouTuber Haetnim Faces Police Complaint Over “Jusa-imo” Scandal

What’s Going On with Haetnim?

Hey everyone! Some pretty shocking news just dropped in the Korean entertainment world. You probably know Haetnim (입짧은햇님), the super popular and lovable mukbang YouTuber. Well, she’s currently facing a police complaint regarding a huge controversy being called the “Jusa-imo” (주사이모) or “Injection Auntie” scandal.

Basically, Haetnim and her manager were formally reported to the Seoul Mapo Police Station on December 19th. The accusations involve violating Korea’s Medical Service Act and the Narcotics Control Act. This whole thing blew up after a news report from Dispatch linked several celebrities, including Haetnim, to an unlicensed woman who was giving out injections and other medical treatments.

Who is “Jusa-imo”?

So, “Jusa-imo” literally translates to “Injection Auntie.” She’s a woman who allegedly provided various medical services, like IV drips and possibly prescription drugs, to celebrities at their homes. The problem is, she’s reportedly not a licensed doctor, which makes these house calls and treatments illegal in Korea. The scandal first broke surrounding comedian Park Na-rae, but has since pulled in other stars who are on the same TV show, like SHINee’s Key and now, Haetnim.

Haetnim explained her side of the story on her YouTube channel. She said she was introduced to the woman through an acquaintance and first met her at a legitimate clinic in Gangnam. Because of that, she said she “believed without a doubt” that the woman was a doctor. She admitted that the woman did come to her house on days she was too busy, but insisted she never went to the “Jusa-imo’s” house herself.

Allegations of Illegal Diet Pills

The situation gets even more complicated. The police complaint alleges that Haetnim may have received diet pills that are classified as psychotropic drugs, which require a doctor’s prescription. Reports have surfaced with text message logs suggesting the “Jusa-imo” gave Haetnim a diet medication known as “butterfly pill” (a Phentermine-based appetite suppressant), and even claimed Haetnim lost 30kg using her methods. Haetnim has denied the diet pill and IV drip allegations, stating she only received medication for reducing swelling from the woman’s hospital.

What Happens Now?

This is a massive deal, and Haetnim is taking it very seriously. She posted a sincere apology to her fans and announced that she is stepping down from all her TV programs, including the popular show “Amazing Saturday,” and halting all her activities. It’s a huge blow for her fans, as her subscriber count has already started to drop. The police have just started their investigation into the complaint against her and her manager, so we’ll have to wait and see how things unfold. It’s a messy situation that reminds everyone how important it is to be careful, even for celebrities.
