Korea’s ‘Injection Auntie’ Scandal Blows Up: Top TV Host Jeon Hyun-moo Investigated by Police Over In-Car IV Drip

From Hard Worker to Suspect: An IV Drip From 2016

Hey everyone! So, a huge scandal involving an ‘Injection Auntie’ has been shaking up the Korean celebrity world, and it just pulled in one of the biggest names in Korean TV: Jeon Hyun-moo. Think of him as kind of like the Ryan Seacrest of Korea; he’s everywhere! The big news is that he has been formally reported to the police and is now under investigation.

The whole thing started when a scene from the super popular reality show ‘I Live Alone’ (나 혼자 산다) from way back in 2016 resurfaced. The clip showed Jeon Hyun-moo getting an IV drip in his car while moving between his packed schedules. Back then, people saw it and were like, “Wow, he works so hard!” But now, in 2025, that same scene is being viewed in a completely different, much more suspicious light.

Why is This a Problem Now? The “Injection Auntie” Scandal

So, why the sudden drama over a nine-year-old clip? It’s all about context. Lately, Korea has been gripped by the ‘Jusa Eemo’ (주사 이모), or ‘Injection Auntie,’ scandal. This involves an unlicensed person allegedly giving celebrities at-home IV drips and other injections, which is super illegal here. Major stars like comedian Park Na-rae and SHINee’s Key have already been caught up in it and have had to halt their activities.

Because of this massive controversy, netizens and the public have been digging through old footage, and that’s when they found the clip of Jeon Hyun-moo. Given the current climate, people immediately started questioning if his in-car IV was another case of an illegal house call from a ‘Jusa Eemo.’ A formal complaint was filed through the national petition system, triggering an official police investigation.

Team Jeon Hyun-moo Fires Back with Receipts

Unlike some others who have been more quiet, Jeon Hyun-moo’s agency, SM C&C, came out swinging to defend him. They’ve been very clear, stating that the IV was 100% legal and above board. According to their statement, Jeon Hyun-moo was suffering from severe laryngitis and other illnesses at the time and had visited a hospital for treatment.

They claim that because his schedule was so tight, the doctor at the hospital administered the treatment, and with the doctor’s permission, he finished the last part of the IV drip in the car on the way to his next filming location. To shut down all the rumors, the agency took the pretty extreme step of releasing his actual medical records and hospital payment logs from 2016. They even clarified that the medical waste from the IV was properly returned to the hospital on his next visit.

So, What’s Next?

Despite his agency’s detailed explanation and evidence, the police have confirmed that the investigation is officially moving forward. SM C&C has stated they will cooperate fully with the authorities to clear his name. It’s a classic case of public suspicion running high during a huge scandal, but his agency definitely brought the receipts! We’ll have to wait and see what the police conclude. What a crazy end to the year for Korean entertainment!
