Brrr! Korea’s Weather Alert for Sunday
Hey guys! Hope you’re all having a great weekend. Here in Seoul, things are getting pretty chilly and a bit messy. The news just dropped the weather forecast for Sunday the 14th, and it looks like the snow and rain we’ve been having are sticking around. It’s not just a little flurry either; some areas are expecting a decent amount of snow, especially places like Jeju Island.

Watch Out for Icy Roads!
The biggest warning from the Korea Meteorological Administration (our version of the National Weather Service) is about the roads. With temperatures dropping, all this rain and snow is going to freeze over, creating super slippery ‘ice roads’ (we call it ‘빙판길’ – bing-pan-gil). They’re seriously telling everyone to be extra cautious when walking or driving. It’s no joke, a lot of accidents can happen when the roads get like this, so if you’re out and about, please be careful!

Hold Onto Your Hats… Literally!
As if the snow and ice weren’t enough, we’re also expecting some serious wind. They’re talking about gusts strong enough to maybe even get a special wind advisory, particularly on the west coast and Jeju Island. This could even affect flights and ferries, so if you have travel plans, definitely double-check your schedule before heading out. It’s the kind of wind that can snatch your beanie right off your head, so hold on tight!
So, What’s the Plan?
For a lot of us here, this weather means it’s the perfect excuse to stay inside, order some delicious delivery food (chicken and beer, anyone?), and binge-watch a K-drama. It’s a classic winter move in Korea! While seeing the snow is beautiful, safety comes first. Morning low temperatures are expected to be as cold as -6°C (that’s about 21°F), so it’s definitely full-on winter mode. Stay warm and safe wherever you are!
